The name Adamastor comes from Os Lusíadas, the epic poem by Luís de Camões, which tells the story of Portugal’s Age of Discoveries.
In the poem, Adamastor is a mythical giant who personifies the dangers of the sea, appearing as a terrifying force at the Cape of Storms (now Cape of Good Hope).
He warns Portuguese sailors, led by Vasco da Gama, of the perils ahead, symbolizing the challenges and fears they must overcome to reach new lands.
Despite his warnings, the explorers press forward, embodying courage and determination—values that inspire our coffee craft.
