Myanmar- Shwe Cherry Estate

The Mandalay region, located in central Myanmar, has established itself in recent years as an emerging area for specialty coffee production.

In mountainous areas like Pyin Oo Lwin, where the altitude and cooler climate favor the cultivation of high-quality Arabica beans, small producers and cooperatives have begun to implement more careful agronomic practices and differentiated post-harvest processes.

The combination of fertile soils, altitudes that typically range between 1,000 and 1,500 meters, and a growing focus on quality has allowed Mandalay coffees to stand out for their clean and balanced profiles, with fruity and sweet notes that reflect the country's coffee-growing potential.

Shwe Cherry Estate is located in Kyee Kaing Village, Pyin Oo Lwin Township. The farm was established in 2013, initially planting silver oak trees for shade.

Coffee cultivation began in 2017, following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) guidelines set by the Ministry of Agriculture. The first harvest was in 2020, and the farm has maintained GAP certification ever since. The main varieties cultivated are SL-34 and Catimor H-528. Additionally, Geisha varieties germinated in the nursery in 2023 and were planted on the farm in 2024.
